Gracie Hunt - 3rd Runner-Up
1.If you could make one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, what would it be?
My theme song would be “It’s Your Life,” from the movie Soul Surfer. The song plays during the movie when Bethany Hamilton is working to regain her ability to surf with one arm, following the shark attack. It is an encouraging reminder that our lives are examples to others, to live what you believe and “let your life be the one that lights the way.” Plus, the beat is irresistible and makes people happy!
2.If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
My favorite clothing store to shop at is any sporting goods store! I love exercise and don’t think I’ve ever seen workout clothes or equipment that I didn’t want to put on and go outside to participate in some activity. I’m a sports enthusiast and have gear for every endeavor, from running shoes and soccer cleats to water shoes and hiking boots. No matter what the sport, I’m ready with my fitness wardrobe!
3.When do you feel a child or teen becomes an adult?
My favorite family vacation is a trip we made to South Africa. Partnering with Athlete’s in Action, we put on soccer clinics and passed out balls to impoverished children in shantytowns and visited an orphanage to deliver toys and food. The children were the most joyful I’ve ever met, in spite of their circumstances and their example has stayed with me. We also got to spend a few days on safari enjoying God’s beautiful creation.
4.What do you feel you have learned in life that will be the most useful?
I’ve been playing soccer since I was old enough to toddle and kick a ball with my dad. I am a partner player on the Texas Special Olympics soccer team. We practice every week and play several matches at pro stadiums. Training and competing with my teammates is definitely my favorite outdoor activity. We encourage one another to be more than we think we can and work to inspire others to do the same.
